Iguazú National
Park in Argentina is home to most
of the 270 waterfalls found along
this spectacular 2.7 kilometre
(1.67 mile) stretch of the Iguazú River.
Declared a UNESCO
World Heritage Site in 1984, Iguazú dwarfs
Niagara Falls, comparable to South
Africa’s Victoria Falls in
width, height, and peak water flows.
A popular destination for photographers,
naturalists and tourists alike,
Iguazú has something to
offer every visitor.
While two thirds of the waterfalls
are inside Argentina, a visit to
the Brazilian Iguazú National
Park is a must to obtain some of
the best panoramic views.
From the Visitor's
Center, located
on the Argentina side of the park,
you board an open train for a 15-minute
trip up to the Lower
Path and the
Upper Path.
The Lower Walkway brings you into
intimate contact with waterfalls
and natural pools, allowing you
to enjoy beautiful rainbows formed
by the mist, forming a gorgeous
contrast with the bright green
of the abundant tropical vegetation.
Here, you may board a small motorboat
to cross the river to get closer
to the largest waterfalls such
as Arrechea, San Martín,
Tres Mosqueteros, Bozetti and Devil's
Throat falls.
The Upper Walkway stretches along
the upper part of the falls, where
the cascades start.
In this National Park you will
find more than 2,000 plant species,
including gigantic trees, ferns,
lianas, and precious orchids; also,
come to view some of the 400 bird
species – including parrots,
hummingbirds, and toucans. Jaguars
and caimans also make Iguazú their
home.
The park also offers outdoor recreation
activities such as horseback riding
with a native guide, four-wheel
motorbiking, biking, ecotourism,
rural tourism, archaeological trips,
trekking, fishing, photo safaris,
rafting, canopy exploration, kayaking,
and others. |

riding, canoeing, fishing, bird-watching,
and trekking, among others.

can catch and release the “Dorado” or “Tiger

fighting acrobatic fish. The Dorado
lives in fresh water and belongs
