This white and rugged surface hides a great brackish lake and this is the reason why you can observe several types of flamingos. Return to San Pedro. Lodging.

Day 5. San Pedro de Atacama. At dawn, we depart towards the Geysers of Tatio: hot springs that episodically erupt fountains of scalding water and steam as a consequence of groundwater being heated to its boiling temperature in a confined space. In these particular geysers, the volcanic activity supplies the heat needed to boil shallow ground water. The best time to see them is between 05:30 and 07:00 in the morning, when the height of the eruptions can easily reach the 10 meters. We will take a geothermal walk, have breakfast and will continue towards Termas de Puritana (Thermal waters) and the town of Machuca located in a gorge inhabited by llamas and alpacas.
